GGuT - Association for Horticulture and Therapy in Germany
Who we are
The Association for Horticulture and Therapy is a non-profit organisation, which encourages professionals to use gardening to help disabled and other people who wish to change and improve their life.
Gardening for well-being
Gardening is a wonderfully flexible medium through which individuals can accomplish many objectives. Some may be
immediately apparent, such as rebuilding strength after an accident or an illness, or providing a purposeful activity
which helps people to cope with a difficult period in their life. Some may be less obvious such as helping to improve
literacy through a simple task such as labelling a plant or reading seed packets. There are people who simply want to
enjoy gardening but need practical advice and skills to get started or to progress.

We believe
It is widely known how gardening helps in many different ways. It is accessible to all people and useful for many of them.
Our objectives
We support professionals by information and networking, by meetings and working groups. We cooperate with relevant organisations on a national and an international level. We support related work in social sciences and research.
The Association Horticulture and Therapy (Gesellschaft fuer Gartenbau und Therapie e.V., GGuT) in Germany
- The Association Horticulture and Therapy (Gesellschaft für Gartenbau und Therapie e.V., GGuT) is a non-profit organisation with members in German speaking countries.
- We are professionals interested in using gardening as educational and therapeutic means.
- The GGuT is supported by the experience and competencies of its members, who meet in working and regional groups.
- The GGuT is in contact with similar organisations abroad, with THRIVE in England, and with the AHTA in the US.
- A working group "Gardening and Therapy" (Ak GuT) in the Cologne-Duesseldorf region is existing since 1988. In 2001 members of this group founded the Association Horticulture and Therapy (Gesellschaft fuer Gartenbau und Therapie e.V. - GGuT)
- There are working groups in Berlin and in south Germany. Their adresses will be available under "contact"
We are very pleased, if you support us as a member with your ideas and with your financial support. Our membership fee is 30 € for international members.
Even if you are not able to attend meetings personally, members profit by informations sent by personal mail and experiencing themselves as part of this greater community creatively using gardening to support people.
